NEW YORK, Oct. 13 (UPI) -- Tracy Morgan has returned to stand-up after performing his first set since recovering from a deadly car crash back in June 2014.

Morgan appeared onstage Monday night at the Comedy Cellar in New York City. The comedian appeared to have fully recovered from his injuries as he was able to stand without the use of a cane.

The 46-year-old is gearing up for his long-awaited return to television to host Saturday Night Live on Oct. 17 with musical guest Demi Lovato.

The 30 Rock star tweeted out a photo of himself onstage at the comedy club writing, "My first time on stage in 16 months at the #ComedyCellar!"

Morgan's last major public appearance occurred during the 2015 Emmy Awards where the actor presented the final award of the night.

"Last year, Jimmy Kimmel said on this stage, 'We'll see you back here next year, Tracy Morgan.' Well, Jimmy, thanks to my amazing doctors and the support of my family and my beautiful, new wife, I'm here standing on my own two feet and God bless all of you for your love, for your prayers and for your positive thoughts over the past 15 months. Thank you," Morgan said during the ceremony.

"I'm honored to be here at the Emmys. ... It's been a long road back. I suffered a traumatic, brain injury that put me in a coma for eight days and when I finally regained consciousness, I was just ecstatic to learn I wasn't the one who messed up. Only recently, I've started to feel like myself again, which means a whole lot of women are going to get pregnant at the after-party."

Morgan had sustained broken ribs, a broken nose, head trauma and a broken leg in the crash on the New Jersey Turnpike in June 2014. Sadly Morgan's friend and fellow comedian, James McNair was killed in the accident.
