FRANKLIN LAKES, N.J., Oct. 9 (UPI) -- Gia Giudice is looking forward to some normalcy once mom Teresa Giudice returns from prison.

The 14-year-old aspiring singer opened up about the 43-year-old reality star's impending release in an interview with Entertainment Tonight on Thursday. Teresa will return home Dec. 23, reuniting the family for a short time before Joe Giudice serves his sentence.

"Anything can happen to any family, and it could be worse," Gia mused. "At least no one's sick, that's honestly how I think of it. They're coming home. My mom's coming home. My dad's going to come home. Knock on wood, no one's sick, no one's dying."

"When my mom comes home, it's not even something to prepare for," she said. "I'm just so happy for that to happen. It's going to be good to have it back to normal for a couple months, but then when my dad leaves, it's just going to be the same thing all over again."

Teresa and Joe were sentenced to 15 and 41 months, respectively, for fraud in October 2014. The couple were allowed to serve their terms separately on account of their four daughters, and Joe recently told E! News it "hasn't been easy" parenting his children alone.

"I wouldn't say we're doing well," he admitted. "I'm glad I was able to keep the girls together and do what we have to do to get by until she gets home ... You're e-mailing, you're talking here and there, but it's not like she's here. She still has to be there."

"The last two years have been rough, but I'm glad it's behind us," he said. "[We'll] start a new life, start all over again and put everything behind you and just hope it all stays nice. No more of this court crap, I'm tired of all that. I'm glad it's over."

Teresa and Joe married in 1999, and are also parents to Gabriella, Milania and Audriana. The reality star came to fame on Bravo series The Real Housewives of New Jersey, and will likely return on the show following her release from prison.
