LOS ANGELES, Oct. 9 (UPI) -- Demi Lovato, 23, channels her inner tough girl in her new "Confident" music video featuring Fast & Furious star Michelle Rodriguez.

According to Us Weekly, the short film style video was directed by Sin City's Robert Rodriguez.

In the video, Lovato plays an inmate who gets broken out of a maximum security prison by a mob boss. Her only chance at freedom is to track down her supposed enemy played by Rodriguez.

For her cooperation she receives a brand on her arm symbolizing her cooperation with the gangster.

Unfortunately, Lovato is no match for Rodriguez and is beaten down in a fist fight -- twice.

Midway through the action-packed video, the former Disney star tries to call a truce and reveals her brand only to find out that the two shared the same one. They form a pact and set out to defeat the entity that pit them against each other.

In case her "Cool For the Summer" music video and October Cosmopolitan shoot didn't convey it already, Lovato solidified her bad-girl image with the edginess of her new Confident record.

The album is set to drop October 16.
