NEW YORK, Oct. 9 (UPI) -- In a recent Today Show interview, Christina Aguilera shared that she is working on two studio albums: one in English and one in Spanish. The Spanish album is a follow-up to Mi Refleio, the record she released in 2000.

The interview came after the singer's trip to Ecuador, her father's country of origin, as part of her work as the ambassador for the World Food Program.

"It gets emotional for me because it's really really hard to see some of their situations," she said. "I love going on these trips and going into the field and meeting these people that have these incredible stories of survival and struggle."

The Grammy Award-winning singer also mentioned she's been "loosely accumulating" ideas for her eighth studio album, which will come three years after her 2012 release of Lotus.

"I'm excited for my fans to finally be getting something from me," the artist said. "It's been a while."

Aguilera set the album's release date for early next year. The crooner hopes to have it ready around the same time she is set to return to NBC's popular singing competition The Voice in February 2016.

"I return for [live episodes of] Season 10," she said in an interview with ABC news.

The 34-year-old "Ain't No Other Man" singer also mentioned that a lot of the inspiration for her new album, comes from doing yoga.

"[I'm] taking a love for yoga and breathing ... not looking at it as an exercise, but just feeling more one with the Earth and everyone being connected, it'll definitely have a reflection on the new record," she said.

The Voice airs Monday and Tuesdays on NBC.
