All three publications will be sponsoring a large event celebrating Rhimes and her shows set to take place in Los Angeles Saturday, Sept. 26.

"The powerful collaboration of EW, Essence, and People [magazine] provides an audience reach of more than 116 million to celebrate the TGIT season premiers of the incredibly popular Shondaland programming," the three publications' parent company, Time Inc. CCO, Norman Pearlstine, said in a statement.

Entertainment Weekly will publish collectors' editions of this month's issue by releasing four different covers -- three highlighting one of the shows and the fourth featuring Rhimes with her leading ladies. The special edition magazines hit stands Friday.
