Rihanna says Kanye has her vote for 2020; launches new fragrance

NEW YORK, Sept. 1 (UPI) -- R&B superstar Rihanna would vote Kanye West for president in the 2020 elections.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight to promote her new fragrance, RiRi by Rihanna, the singer revealed how she was taken aback by what West said, and why she would vote for him.

"I mean people are voting for [Donald] Trump. Who wouldn't vote for Kanye?," Rihanna said. "I got to see his speech and I'm really, really elated with it. His speech was incredible."

West made the presidential announcement when he won the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard award during Sunday's MTV Video Music Awards. While wrapping up his acceptance speech, the hip-hop titan declared, "And, yes, as you probably could have guessed by this moment, I have decided in 2020 to run for president," setting off a media storm in the process.

Rihanna skipped the VMAs in order to be in New York for the launch of her new perfume. Fans lined up for days as the star held a meet and greet for the first 400 individuals to buy her perfume at a Brooklyn Macy's on Monday.The Diamonds singer attended the event all dolled up wearing an all pink 80s chic dress.

"You feel flirty, fun and you feel sassy," Rihanna said of her new perfume RiRi, based on her own nickname. "All those things are the ingredients that make me and that's why I called it RiRi."
