"I'm in Edinburgh, so could somebody at King's Cross wish James S Potter good luck for me? He's starting at Hogwarts today. #BackToHogwarts," Rowling wrote.

The tweet, which has been favorited over 93,000 times, set off a frenzy of fan nostalgia and got the "BackToHogwarts" hashtag trending on social media. Rowling followed up by announcing James was sorted into his father and grandfather's house, Gryffindor.

"Have just heard that James S Potter has been Sorted (to nobody's surprise) into Gryffindor. Teddy Lupin (Head Boy, Hufflepuff) disappointed," she revealed.

Many also celebrated the 24th anniversary of Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger meeting on the Hogwarts Express. Real-life London stations included the Hogwarts train on their schedules in honor of the occasion.
