Matt Damon says Ben Affleck is doing 'great' following split

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 11 (UPI) -- Matt Damon says Ben Affleck is doing just fine following his split from Jennifer Garner.

The 44-year-old actor revealed as much about his 42-year-old longtime friend and collaborator at the duo's Project Greenlight premiere Monday. Affleck himself was spotted with his wedding ring, but declined to talk to reporters.

"He's great, he's great," Damon said of the star. "He's got a big smile on his face." The actor also joked about Affleck's upcoming birthday on Aug. 15, saying, "Yeah, I wish him well, but he's forty-three, it's kind of like, meh ... It's a forgettable birthday."

Affleck and Garner confirmed in June they plan to divorce following months of speculation about their relationship. The actor subsequently denied he's dating the couple's former nanny, Christine Ouzounian, who broke her social media silence Sunday.

Project Greenlight will return to HBO for season 4 come Sept. 13, and released a teaser trailer last week. Damn and Affleck executive produce the reality series, which sees first-time filmmakers compete for the chance to direct a feature film.
