LOS ANGELES, Aug. 5 (UPI) -- Marvel and 20th Century Fox released the first official trailer for its alternative superhero flick, Deadpool, Tuesday.

The R-rated trailer -- also described as the NSFW trailer -- features quick-witted Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) as he undergoes the initial Wolverine-like experiment that altered his body after being diagnosed with cancer.

Wilson then adopts the alter-ego Deadpool and begins working as a mercenary to cope with leftover "rage" after the experiment changes his life in ways he didn't expect.

Wilson's dry, often R-rated humor (and apparent Green Lantern joke) prompted positive reactions from already enthusiastic fans on social media. Deadpool, directed by Tim Miller, hits theaters Febuary 2016.
