LOS ANGELES, Aug. 4 (UPI) -- Khloe Kardashian shows off her 35-pound weight loss in the September issue of Women's Health.

The 31-year-old reality star covered the magazine's latest edition in nothing but a denim shirt and bikini bottoms, and proudly flaunted her "revenge body" in the spread. Kardashian told the publication her fitness journey began amid problems with soon-to-be ex-husband Lamar Odom.

"It started around 2012," she recalled. "I was having a hard time with Lamar. It was toward the end of our union, and there was so much drama. I needed a release. At first it was so hard. It was baby steps, but I started feeling so much better."

"The first 45 days you're like, '[Expletive] this [expletive],'" she related. "You're exhausted. You're sore, and I actually felt fatter because I was swollen. If you keep going, you're eventually like, 'Wow is that an indentation on my arm?'"

The sexy photo shoot comes just weeks after Kardashian and Odom signed papers to finalize their divorce. The reality star said her transformation boosted her self-esteem, and became a positive way to hit back at "critics who called [her] 'the fat one' for [her] entire existence."

Kardashian revealed the 35-pound figure during an interview with Australian radio show Fitzy & Wippa last week. The reality star and her family came to fame on E! series Keeping Up with the Kardashians, which will return from mid-season break in the fall.
