BRISBANE, Australia, July 26 (UPI) -- Even Captain Jack Sparrow loves baby animals.

The Australian Bat Clinic & Wildlife Trauma Centre recently shared video and photos of Johnny Depp, in costume as the rakish pirate, cuddling up to and bottle-feeding an orphaned baby bat named Jackie Sparrow.

The wildlife clinic said Depp, who is in Australia filming Pirates of the Caribbean 5, is sponsoring the bat.

"It's so fantastic to see him showing a genuine interest, and helping us raise awareness for bats!" the clinic said.

The bat clinic isn't the only charitable organization Depp has visited in Australia. Earlier this month, Depp, in character as Jack Sparrow, met with children at Lady Cilento Children's Hospital in Brisbane.
