SAN DIEGO, July 14 (UPI) -- Daniel Radcliffe says he's excited to watch the expansive Harry Potter prequels, but won't be appearing in any of them.

During a Comic-Con interview, the 25-year-old Victor Frankenstein actor told E! News he felt it would be "a very distracting thing" if he appeared in the films, even in the background.

"I'm not looking to pop in them," he said. "But I'm excited to see them! Especially with Eddie [Redmayne], he's awesome. I think it'll be fantastic."

Redmayne will star in the first of the proposed trilogy, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, which is set to hit theaters in late 2016. He will play the "magizoologist" and textbook writer Newt Scamander, set decades before Harry Potter and his friends get their hands on his work at Hogwarts.

"I'm intrigued to see what they're going to do," Radcliffe continued.

Ezra Miller, Katherine Waterson, Dan Fogler and Alison Sudol are signed to appear in Fantastic Beasts alongside Redmayne, according to IMDB. Warner Bros Pictures announced an open casting call Monday, revealing their London-based search for a young girl between the age of 8 and 12 to play the female lead, Modesty.

"'Modesty' is a haunted young girl with an inner strength and stillness. She has an ability to see deep into people and understand them," the announcement read.
