LOS ANGELES, July 13 (UPI) -- On Saturday, Justin Bieber deleted his infamous butt picture and explained to fans why he removed the popular photo from his Instagram page.

The 22-year-old singer posted a photo fully clothed, writing, "Hey I Deleted the photo of my butt on Instagram not because I thought it was bad but someone close to me's daughter follows me and she was embarrassed that she saw my butt and I totally wasn't thinking in that aspect. And I felt awful that she felt bad."

He added: "To anyone I may have offended I'm so sorry. It was completely pure hearted as a joke but didn't take in account there are littles following me!!! Love u guys"

The photo of his backside garnered 1.5 million likes in less than 11 hours, and although the belieber fan base was excited to see Bieber in all of his glory, they were supportive of his decision to remove it.

One commenter wrote: "That's okay, it is so beautiful that you deleted that for a little girl... So cute. Anyways, I am so proud of you for deleting that because you wanted to, and not because some stupid people didn't like it."

"You're lucky you've got a cute butt otherwise we wouldn't be able to forgive you so quickly," another fan said.
