GREELEY, Colo., July 6 (UPI) -- Amanda Peterson, the actress who starred opposite Patrick Dempsey in Can't Buy Me Love, was found dead at her home in Colorado, her father said. She was 43.

Peterson's father told TMZ his daughter hadn't been heard from since Friday, and when her Greeley home was checked Saturday, her body was found.

Greeley Police Department officials told E! News they sent officers to Peterson's house after her family called for a welfare check. They said they were investigating the cause of her death.

Peterson's father, whose name wasn't reported, said he didn't know what caused her death, either.

"She had some illness and a sleep apnea problem that may have contributed," he said, adding that she'd also had pneumonia and sinusitis over the past two years.

He said she had also lived in a house with mold problem up until about one year ago.

Peterson is perhaps best known for her role as Cindy Mancini in the 1987 romantic comedy Can't Buy Me Love. She also appeared in the musical film Annie when she was 9 years old. She left the movie industry in 1994.
