LOS ANGELES, June 30 (UPI) -- Pop Star Katy Perry, 30, is looking to purchase a convent, but the nuns who say they have claim on the property are refusing to sell to it her.

The convent, located in Los Feliz overlooking Los Angeles, was once home to the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Two of the 50 sisters who lived there said it was up to them to decide who to sell it to, reports the Los Angeles Times.

The Archdiocese of Los Angeles disputes the sisters' claims, saying it is up to them to decide. Though the nuns had bought the building in the '70s, they need the approval of the archdiocese in order to sell it.

According to the Washington Post, Sister Rita Callanan, 77, felt Perry wouldn't be a good owner for the convent, after watching her Super Bowl Performance. Despite Callanan's disapproval, the archdiocese wants to sell to Perry, who was more than willing to pay cash for the location.

Perry even visited with the nuns and sang "Oh Happy Day" from Sister Act 2, Perry who's father is a pastor and grew up Christian, didn't impress the nuns with her visit.

According to the New York Daily News, the sisters would rather sell to restaurateur Dana Hollister, who plans to convert the eight-acre property into a boutique hotel and restaurant. Which according to Sister Catherine Rose Holzman, 86, would be preferable since it would remain open to the public.

Perry is willing to match the 15.5 million, and the archdiocese has since taken Hollister to court in order to try and stop the sale. NBC Los Angeles reported Perry had been given a court order to visit the property with her architect.

Despite the disapproval of the two nuns, the archdiocese have heard Perry's roar and are ready to hand over the keys. The next court hearing is on July 9.
