Cara Delevingne calls superhero films 'totally sexist'

PORTLAND, Ore., June 30 (UPI) -- Cara Delevingne isn't impressed by most superhero films.

The 22-year-old English model revealed as much in an interview with Empire magazine despite her upcoming role in DC Comics movie Suicide Squad.

"There are only three girls in [Suicide Squad], but in my opinion they have the best roles," she said. "Generally though, superhero movies are totally sexist."

"Female superheroes are normally naked or in bikinis," she elaborated. "No one would be able to fight like that. Wonder Woman, how the hell does she fight? She would be dead in a minute."

Delevingne previously told Entertainment Weekly she likes the Batman films but isn't as "keen" on other superhero movies. She, however, declared Suicide Squad will be "the best thing in the world" and said she has "never been so excited to see a film."

Margot Robbie and Karen Fukuhara also star as Harley Quinn and Katana in Suicide Squad, which opens in theaters August 5, 2016. The movie follows the titular group of antiheroes as they complete dangerous missions in exchange for commuted prison sentences.

Delevingne is known for her modeling work with Burberry and Chanel, and has recently turned her focus to acting. She will star in adaptations of the John Green novel Paper Towns and Pierre Christin comic Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets.
