LOS ANGELES, May 27 (UPI) -- The trailer for the long-awaited remake of the 1991 film Point Break hit the web on Tuesday.

The new film stars relative unknowns Luke Bracey, in Keanu Reeves' role as FBI agent Johnny Utah, and Edgar Ramierez in Patrick Swayze's role as the enigmatic bank-robbing surfer Bodhi.

Though the 1991 cult classic focused on a band of criminal surfers, Warner Bros. remake expands the action to include all extreme sports.

In the new film, Utah infiltrates a group of high-octane adventurers who rob banks.

"I believe that, like me, the people behind these robberies are extreme athletes," he says in the trailer.

The film, which also stars Teresa Palmer (Warm Bodies), hits theaters Christmas Day.
