LOS ANGELES, May 23 (UPI) -- Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen will not return to their role as Michelle in Netflix's upcoming Full House reincarnation, Fuller House.

"Although Ashley and Mary-Kate will not be a part of Fuller House, I know how much Full House has meant to them and they are still very much considered family," executive producer Robert L. Boyett said via Hollywood Reporter. "It has been exciting to see how they have built their professional careers, and I support their choice to focus on their fashion brands and various business endeavors. I appreciate their support and good wishes towards Fuller House."

The 28-year-old celebrities apparently were not notified about the project directly, but instead found out about it at the same time as the public. Ashley said she was shocked not to hear from producer John Stamos before his announcement on Jimmy Kimmel Live in April.

Original cast members Candace Cameron Bure (D.J.), Jodie Sweetin (Stephanie) and Andrea Barber (Kimmy) will return to the reprisal. Producer John Stamos will return as Uncle Jesse and Dave Coulier as Uncle Joey.

Bob Saget (Danny) and Lori Loughlin (Rebecca) are still in talks with producers about returning to the set, Hollywood Reporter says. Screenwriter Jeff Franklin announced Friday night via Twitter that the first script of the film has been completed, and further confirmed that the twins will not be joining the cast.

The Olsen twins interchangeably played the role as the cast's cutest member, Michelle, on Full House from 1987 until the show ended 1995.
