NEW YORK, May 22 (UPI) -- Hailee Steinfeld isn't the type to pop in and out of the spotlight for her 15 minutes of fame. The Pitch Perfect 2 newcomer and "Bad Blood" villain just signed a full-blown recording contract with Republic Records.

The 18-year-old actress and singer landed the deal this week in the wake of the Pitch Perfect sequel's box office success. The flick had the biggest opening weekend for a musical ever when it released May 15.

In a statement, executive vice president Charlie Walk said, "The moment that we met Hailee we found her commitment to music inspiring. She has the vision, natural talent and dedication to compete at the highest level. We are thrilled to be a part of her musical journey."

The label's co-founder and chief, Monte Lipman, added: "Hailee is a multi-talented artist and among her many gifts, her voice is both unique and undeniable. It's exciting to have her join the Republic family."
