NEW YORK, May 5 (UPI) -- Rihanna dressed to impress at Monday night's MET Gala, donning a yellow Guo Pei gown that even her mother would love.

When the songstress was asked what her mother thought of her canary dress she responded, "I'm covered so she would be happy," USA Today reported.

Unlike Beyonce's barley-there gown, Rihanna needed four hired professionals to help her carry the train of her Chinese-inspired dress, that went perfectly with the evening's theme: "China: Through the Looking Glass"

While on the red carpet, she admitted to Vanity Fair, that she searched the Internet for Chinese couture and stumbled upon this dress, which took the designer two years to make by hand.

"I'm so in love with this dress, but the train is insane! I can't really walk in it without any help. But it's so worth it. I love this dress so much," she said.

The designer had two other show-stopping dresses displayed at the MET exhibit. Pei told The Cut that her "Magnificent Gold" dress took 50,000 hours to make and her "Blue & Porcelain" dress took 10,000 hours.

"I want is to make them remember. I don't do this for profit. It is my responsibility to let the world know China's tradition and past, and to give the splendor of China a new expression. I hope that people do know China in this way," she said about her designs.
