WASHINGTON, May 2 (UPI) -- Barbra Streisand's publicist says the entertainer "felt terrible" that her 12-year-old Coton de Tulear Samantha bit a flight attendant on Ron Perelman's private jet during a recent flight to Washington.

"The flight attendant started petting the dog, and when it's a stranger, you put the hand out," the representative explained. "And the dog nipped at her, and it would be inaccurate to make it more than it is. Barbra felt terrible."

People magazine said the injury of the unidentified women required stitches to close.
