LOS ANGELES, April 21 (UPI) -- Sarah Hyland is happy with boyfriend Dominic Sherwood. The 24-year-old actress discussed the 25-year-old actor in an interview with E! News on Monday. Sherwood was announced as the lead for new ABC Family series Shadowhunters this week, and Hyland told the website she is thrilled about the casting.

"He's amazing," she gushed of her beau. "He's an amazing person. We became such good friends on Vampire Academy. I'm so happy for him. It's an amazing thing."
"So immensely proud and happy for you @domsherwood!!!!" she added on a photo of herself with the actor on Instagram. "There's no one else I'd rather raspberry paparazzi with #Shadowhunters #whoisjace."
Hyland and Sherwood met on the set of Vampire Academy in 2013, and were first linked in January. The couple were spotted kissing in February, and attended the Vanity Fair Young Hollywood party later that month. The pair have also shared other photos together on Instagram.
Hyland is best known for portraying Haley Dunphy on ABC sitcom Modern Family, which airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET. Sherwood will play Jace Wayland on Shadowhunters, which is based on The Mortal Instruments book series by Cassandra Clare.
