NEW YORK, April 21 (UPI) -- In light of the program's transition, The Daily Show host Jon Stewart announced Monday his final episode at the helm will be Thursday, August 6.

In early February, the comedian announced his decision to quit The Daily Show citing general dissatisfaction with his job. He told The Guardian: "These things are cyclical. You have moments of dissatisfaction, and then you come out of it and it's OK. But the cycles become longer and maybe more entrenched, and that's when you realize, 'OK, I'm on the back side of it now."

At the close of Monday night's show, Stewart said: "I will be wearing a suit, I will be more than likely showered...I hope you will join us for this program."

South African comedian Trevor Noah is set to replace Stewart after his departure, although no date has been announced for his first show.
