LOS ANGELES, April 21 (UPI) -- After almost 12 years of marriage, Gwyneth Paltrow filed for divorce from Chris Martin.

Paltrow, 42, and Martin, 38, announced in March 2014 said they were "consciously uncoupling." After the parents of Apple, 10, and Moses, 9, announced their separation last year, the couple remained amicable and even went on vacation together as a family. The Coldplay rocker even bought a house in the same neighborhood as the actress in order to make co-parenting that much easier.

A source confirmed to E! News that "Paltrow and Martin's business managers have been working out the terms of their split, including financial assets and custody of their children".

During their separation, both individuals were dating other people. Martin was linked to Jennifer Lawrence and Paltrow was seeing producer Brad Falchuk.

Earlier this year, the GOOP founder talked to Howard Stern about the couple's decision on how deal with the break up in the best way possible for their children. "It's a noble idea, and it's a great thing to try to do for your kids," she said. "We're always going to be a family."
