Zayn Malik sports new buzzcut, nose ring at Asian Awards ceremony in London

LONDON, April 18 (UPI) -- Pop singer Zayn Malik sported a new look when he arrived on the red carpet at the Asian Awards in London.

The former One Direction band member was seen with a shaved head and a nose ring at Friday's event, which he attended with his mother Trisha, the Daily Mirror newspaper said.

Malik made headlines last month when he quit the wildly popular boy band.

"I am leaving because I want to be a normal 22-year-old who is able to relax and have some private time out of the spotlight," Malik said as he announced his exit. "I know I have four friends for life in Louis, Liam, Harry and Niall. I know they will continue to be the best band in the world."
