Ellen Greene, who starred in the original musical and 1986 film, will reprise ditsy love interest Audrey, with Chuck Cooper as the voice of carnivorous plant Audrey II. The new Encores! production will have a three-show run July 1-2 at New York City Center.

Alan Menken composed the musical, with lyrics and book by late writer Howard Ashman. Menken and Ashman are also known for their numerous Disney collaborations, including The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast.

Little Shop of Horrors is based on the 1960 film The Little Shop of Horrors, and opened off-Broadway in 1982. The production was later adapted into a 1986 movie starring Rick Moranis as Seymour and Steve Martin as Orin.
