The 740-piece collection is estimated to be worth $3 million, and includes jewelry, fine art and furniture, among other items. A game table belonging to the star's first husband, Humphrey Bogart, sold for $26,250, while a John James Audubon etching fetched $173,000.

"Everything had to kind of speak to her, to catch her eye," Bonhams vice president Jon King said of the actress to CNN. "She loved form, she loved texture, she loved color. She said that when you walked into her house, what she liked was that it was never boring."

Bacall was born in New York in 1924, and came to fame as model and theater actress. She went on to star in such films as To Have and Have Not and How to Marry a Millionaire, and was known for her relationship with Humphrey Bogart. She died of a stroke at age 89 in August 2014.
