LONDON, March 29 (UPI) -- Tracey Ullman's 85-year-old mother Doreen Skinner has died in a house fire caused by the improper disposal of a cigarette.

The Daily Mail said Saturday Skinner was in her ground-floor retirement flat in Holtspur, Buckinghamshire, when the blaze broke out last Monday.

"Tracey and her family are deeply saddened by the death of her mother, Doreen," a spokesman said in a statement to the newspaper. "The family would like to thank everyone for the kind messages they have received and ask that their privacy be respected at this difficult time."

Ullman, 55, has been enjoying a career revival with the hit movie musical Into the Woods and an upcoming sketch comedy series for the BBC.
