NEW YORK, March 27 (UPI) -- Drea de Matteo revealed her apartment was destroyed in an explosion Thursday.

The 43-year-old actress shared a photo of New York firefighters as they extinguished her flaming East Village building, writing, "A hole where my NYC home of the last 22 years once stood... RIP 123 2nd Avenue."

CBS New York reported an apparent gas explosion leveled three of four buildings impacted by the blast. A total of 19 people were injured, including five FDNY members, and four were left in critical condition. Up to eight people were still missing as of Friday morning.

"My thoughts and prayers are with all those who have been impacted by the explosion in Lower Manhattan today," Governor Andrew Cuomo said in a statement. "On behalf of all New Yorkers, I thank the hundreds of first responders who put the safety of others before their own."

Cuomo promised the Department of Public Service will conduct a full investigation into the cause of the incident. Utility company Con Edison revealed workers deemed a new meter unfit for gas prior to the explosion, but said no leaks were found on the block's gas mains.
