LOS ANGELES, March 18 (UPI) -- Ellen DeGeneres opened up on her aversion to motherhood Tuesday.

The 57-year-old television host detailed her reluctance to have children in an interview with Today. DeGeneres previously shot down baby rumors in October 2014, but told anchor Matt Lauer she would be a good mom.

"I think I would [be a good parent], but that's not enough to have kids," she opined. "I love kids. But that's such a big commitment. And it seems long-term. It seems like a commitment that you have to stick with. And I just don't know if I can -- it's too risky."

DeGeneres and de Rossi have been together since 2004, and married in August 2008. The couple were plagued by divorce reports last year, but the television host denied she and her wife have ever been close to splitting.

"I'm just more flabbergasted by the fact that someone needs to make up a story," she said of the rumors. "There's never been a point where we were breaking up or divorcing or fighting. None of these stories are even remotely true."

DeGeneres appeared on the NBC morning program to promote her new sitcom, One Big Happy. The series is produced by DeGeneres, and stars Elisha Cuthbert as a lesbian woman pregnant with her male best friend's (Nick Zano) baby. The show airs Tuesdays at 9:30 p.m. ET on NBC.
