LONDON, March 6 (UPI) -- Liam Payne says he doesn't have a drinking problem.

The 21-year-old One Direction singer asserted as much in a series of posts Wednesday on Twitter. Payne took to the social media site after the Inquisitr claimed the star's alcohol consumption is affecting his performance on the band's On the Road Again tour.

"@IQShowbiz now I don't really like responding too news articles anymore but i really think this is out of order I don't have a problem," he wrote. "Thanks for worrying but I don't spend my time off stage drinking I play video games with friends and go to the gym."

"I don't drink anymore than a uni student my age so don't treat me like I'm any different to a normal boy my age," he added. He finished by saying, "Apologies for the rant guys have a nice evening x," which garnered over 140,000 favorites on Twitter.

Payne and One Direction band mates Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson are currently on tour in Asia. The group will visit the United Arab Emirates, Europe and North America before bringing the tour to a close in the U.K. in October.
