NEW YORK, March 4 (UPI) -- Bruce Willis and Elizabeth Marvel are to star in a Broadway stage production based on Stephen King's psychological thriller Misery, Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures announced.

The play was penned by two-time Academy Award-winner William Goldman, who also wrote the screenplay for the iconic 1990 film starring James Caan and Kathy Bates. Will Frears will direct the show, which will play a strictly limited engagement this fall at a Broadway house to be announced shortly. "Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures has a mission to explore new ways to tell our stories on stage while collaborating with the most creative artists working in theater today," producer Mark Kaufman said in a statement Wednesday. "Misery is an outstanding psychological thriller and we have been working closely with William Goldman and Will Frears to develop this play for Broadway. Bruce Willis, who is making his Broadway debut, and Elizabeth Marvel are two great actors who are absolutely perfect to play these characters. I expect this production will be a suspenseful and exciting night of theater on Broadway." The story follows a successful romance novelist who is rescued from a car crash by his "No. 1 fan" and wakes up captive in her secluded home.
