BEIJING, Feb. 13 (UPI) -- Jackie Chan's son Jaycee Chan was released from jail in China on Friday after serving a six month sentence for a drug offense.

Jaycee Chan, 32, was arrested in August with his friend Fang Zuming, after he tested positive for marijuana and police founds over 100 grams of the drug in his Beijing apartment. The actor's management company, Mstones, announced his release Friday and said he would hold a press a conference on Saturday, according to CNN.

"He will make a formal public apology and give a full explanation," the company said in the statement.

Jaycee Chan pleaded guilty of "sheltering others to use drugs" in January. The arrest of Jaycee Chan and his friend came as the Chinese government tightened its zero-tolance policy against illegal substances. Jaycee Chan was also fined 2,000 yuan ($322) for the offense.

Jackie Chang, a former goodwill ambassador for the China Anti-Drug Committee, addressed his son's arrest days after the fact and stated he was "very ashamed" of his actions.
