STRASBOURG, France, Jan. 29 (UPI) -- George Clooney's wife and human rights lawyer Amal Clooney laughed off a reporter's question about fashion Wednesday while in court.

Clooney -- nee Alamuddin -- is representing Armenia in a genocide case against Turkish Workers Party leader Doğu Perinçek, who was fined in 2008 for denying the Armenian genocide of 1915, but the decision was overturned.

"It cast doubt of the reality of genocide that Armenian people suffered a century ago," Clooney said in court, "The stakes could not be higher for the Armenian people."

After her speech, a reporter from the Telegraph covering the trial, asked Clooney about speculation regarding what she would be wearing at court.

"I'm wearing Ede & Ravenscroft," she told the reporter, referencing the London-based brand that tailors legal robes.

Clooney's fellow human rights barrister Geoffrey Robertson QC later said the press attention she was getting during trial would focus on her career as a lawyer.

"It is not about white gloves or yachts," he said. "It puts the record straight, she is a human rights lawyer."

Clooney's style made headlines earlier this year after Fashion Police newcomer Kathy Griffin mocked the gloves she wore to the Golden Globe 2015 awards.

Amal and George Clooney married on Sept. 27 in Venice.
