LOS ANGELES, Jan. 27 (UPI) -- George Clooney and his wife Amal's rep has stepped forward to dismiss a new report claiming the couple is headed for divorce.

The comments follow the release of a new issue of In Touch Weekly with a cover story titled "George and Amal's Nightmare: $200M Divorce." The story claims to offer details on "how it all went wrong in only four months" and cites Amal's "disdain for Hollywood" and "diva behavior" as some of the reasons behind the alleged split.

"These stories are made up for the sole purpose of selling magazines," the actor's rep told Gossip Cop. A similar statement was given by Stan Rosenfield to RumorFix.

The Clooneys married in Venice, Italy, on Sept. 27, 2014. The actor publicly professed his love for his wife earlier this month saying he "couldn't be more proud to be her husband" during his acceptance speech for a career achievement honor at the Golden Globe Awards.

In Touch has been pushing boundaries with its source-based stories as of late and recently made headlines for publishing a doctored photo of Olympian turned reality television star Bruce Jenner on its cover titled "My Life as a Woman."
