LOS ANGELES, Jan. 26 (UPI) -- Taryn Manning is not related to NFL stars Eli and Peyton Manning. The 36-year-old actress asserted as much to E! News at the 21st annual Screen Actors Guild awards Sunday. Manning is often reported as being a second cousin of the football-playing brothers, but joked she would be "much taller" if the family connection were true.

"I think somewhere along the way [we might be related]," she mused. "But no, it's not true. We should squash that rumor right here, right now."
Manning and her Orange is the New Black co-stars won an award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series at the ceremony. Uzo Aduba also took home Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series for her portrayal of Suzanne "Crazy Eyes" Warren.
Manning has starred as Tiffany "Pennsatucky" Doggett on the Netflix series since its premiere in 2013. The dramedy is up for Best Comedy Series at the 67th Writers Guild of America Awards, and will return for a third season in June.
