KYOTO, Japan, Jan. 14 (UPI) -- Nintendo unveiled a release date, new details and a trailer for the tenth installment in its popular Mario Party franchise.

Availble in North America on March 20, Mario Party 10 will heavily incorporate the Wii's amiibo feature, adding six new figures for players to encorporate into gameplay: Mario, Luigi, Peach, Yoshi, Bowser and Toad. Amiibos are physical figurines containing game data that unlock specific features and challenges in Wii U games. The figurines also save game data and level up opennig additonal gameplay options, depending on a player's progress.

The physical expansions have become an increasingly central piece of Nintendo's product line, as the video game developer announced more additions to it's library of ambiios than new Wii U games at an online presentation Monday.

The announcement of Mario Party 10's release date offers some bad news for fans of amiibos as well. Super Smash Bros. players hoping to use their amiibos in the new Mario Party will be able to, but they'll have to first erase their Smash Bros. data.

"If you decide to use your Super Smash Brothers amiibo in Mario Party 10, you will need to erase that figure's Smash Brothers amiibo data," explained Nintendo senior product marketing manager Bill Trinen, according to Polygon.
