NEW YORK, Jan. 6 (UPI) -- Kirstie Alley arrived to the Today show on Monday looking considerably skinnier than before -- 50 pounds skinnier to be precise.

The Look Who's Talking star has made headlines over her weight loss and weight gain for years, but Alley told Matt Lauer that her new figure is here to stay.

"This time it's different. My goal is to keep this and maintain this throughout my life. ... I feel like I've conquered that now," she said.

For Alley, 63, her relationship with food in a way mirrors the relationship she used to have with drugs.

"I'm sort of hardheaded," she explained. "You know, when I used to do drugs, it took me a while to quit, quit, quit -- and then it was done. And I feel like that's occurred for me [with my weight now]."

As for her reasons for wanting to lose weight, the Jenny Craig's spokeswoman said she wants to see herself "looking more svelte" on the big screen for one. Men are another reason.

"Kirstie wants to hook up in 2015," she said.
