NEW YORK, Dec. 26 (UPI) -- Forbes has released its annual list of Overpaid Actors in Hollywood featuring the A-listers that earn colossal amounts of money to star in films that don't do well at the box office.

The business magazine inputs data from its Celebrity 100 list and Box Office Mojo in an equation consisting of the actors' last three major releases and later compares it to the operating income from the films.

Comedian Adam Sandler topped the Overpaid list for 2014 for the second year in a row for his "mundane, formulaic" films. Others like Channing Tatum and Sandra Bullock also made the cut, mostly because of "huge backend payments" from some of their blockbusters.

1. Adam Sandler: Returns $3.20 for every $1 paid. 2. Johnny Depp: Returns $4.10 for every $1 paid. 3. Ben Stiller: Returns $4.80 for every $1 paid. 4. Ryan Reynolds: Returns $4.90 for every $1 paid. 5. Tom Hanks: Returns $5.20 for every $1 paid. 6. Will Ferrell: Returns $6.60 for every $1 paid. 7. Channing Tatum: Returns $6.70 for every $1 paid. 8.
