Superman takes on Thor in epic 'Marvel vs. DC' fan trailer

NEW YORK, Dec. 22 (UPI) -- Some creative editing and attention to detail allowed YouTube user Alex Luthor to make fanboy's dreams come true by combing footage from dozens of Marvel and DC comics films to create the Marvel vs DC Epic Trailer.

The implied plot kicks off with Fantastic Four villain Dr. Doom seemingly opening a portal between the iconic comic book universes, kicking off an inexplicable battle between both publisher's most popular Characters.

Luthor -- whose other YouTube credits include similarly edited fanboy fantasies such as Star Wars vsDC and Marvel -- compiled footage from seemingly every major Marvel or DC superhero film from the last decade, with the notable exception of Zack Snyder's Watchmen.

While a Marvel vs DC movie will likely long remain a fantasy, the comic book publishers teamed up in 1996 to bring the battle to paper.
