LONDON, Nov. 19 (UPI) -- Rebecca Ferguson has revealed the backstory behind her most recent pregnancy.

The 28-year-old British singer divulged details about her new baby's father in an interview with Hello!. Ferguson welcomed daughter Arabella in October, and told the magazine the child's father left her after he found out she was expecting and admitted he already had a girlfriend.

"On the outside everyone must have thought everything was rosy at home," she reflected. "I kept a smile on my face and kept all my feelings inside because I had this awful feeling of shame, but I was heartbroken."

"I was fuming when I found out, I was so angry," she shared. "The way I was treated was wrong. I think some people think you're devastated because you want the man, but it's not that. It's devastating for a woman because it's a normal thing for your child to be wanted."

Ferguson said she came to understand her ex-partner wasn't ready to be a dad, and asserted she doesn't hold "any hate" towards him. She has two other children with ex-boyfriend Karl Dures, who offered to adopt Arabella and co-parent her as his own.

Ferguson came to fame on The X Factor in 2010, and finished as the runner-up to Matt Cardle. She subsequently signed with Syco Music and Epic Records, and released her debut studio album, Heaven, in 2011. Freedom followed in 2013, and she currently has a third record in the works.
