NEW YORK, Nov. 14 (UPI) -- Elle Fanning looked almost unrecognizable as she shot scenes from her upcoming drama Three Generations in the streets of New York City this week.

The 16-year-old actress will star as Ray, a teenager who is transitioning from female to male, in director Gaby Dellal's upcoming motion picture. Fanning dyed her signature blonde hair red for the film and was perfectly disguised as a young boy in slacks, a flannel shirt, a thick jacket and a beanie when paparazzi saw her Tuesday.

Naomi Watts and Susan Sarandon will co-star on the film as Fanning's character's mother and lesbian grandmother respectively.

Fanning, the younger sister of actress Dakota Fanning, last starred as Princess Aurora in Disney's Maleficent and is best known for her roles in the critically acclaimed films, Super 8 and Phoebe in Wonderland.
