Harry Styles says he's 'lucky' Taylor Swift writes songs about him

"We write from personal experiences, so it would be hypocritical of us to be like 'oh you can’t write a song...,'" the British boybander said of his ex's songs.

LONDON, Nov. 10 (UPI) -- British singer Harry Styles isn't mad at Taylor Swift for writing songs about him, instead he understand why she does it.

Styles, 20, is believed to be the subject of many of Swift's songs for her record-breaking new album 1989, and while speaking at his band One Direction's "1D FOUR Hangout" on Sunday he explained why he feels lucky about that fact.

"I think we always say, when we wrote the album, that we write from personal experiences, so it would be hypocritical of us to be like 'oh you can't write a song...,'" he said when asked how he felt about her writing songs about their relationship.

"She's really good so... They're good songs. So I'm lucky in that sense," he added.

Styles and Swift dated briefly from October 2012 to January 2013, but their relationship was widely documented by the media and on social media sites. The second single from Swift's new album, "Out of The Woods," is believed to have several references to the couple's short-lived romance.
