It Shoulda Been You will star David Burtka and Sierra Boggess as a Catholic groom and Jewish bride, with Harriet Harris and Tyne Daly as their respective mothers. The musical aims to take "a modern spin on the traditional wedding comedy" as the families experience culture clash.

Pierce won a Tony award for Best Actor in a Musical in 2007 for his performance as Lt. Frank Cioffi in Curtains. The actor is best known for his portrayal of Dr. Niles Crane on NBC sitcom Fraiser, and also appeared in Nixon, Wet Hot American Summer and Full Frontal.

It Shoulda Been You premiered at the George Street Playhouse in 2011, and will begin previews at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre on March 17, 2015. Opening night is scheduled for April 14, 2015.
