Kelli Garner to play Marilyn Monroe in Lifetime miniseries

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 28 (UPI) -- Actress Kelli Garner has landed the title role in Lifetime's miniseries about the life of Marilyn Monroe, Marilyn.

According to Deadline, the four-hour miniseries is based in J. Randy Taraborrelli's book about the late icon, The Secret Life Of Marilyn Monroe.

Garner will star opposite to Susan Sarandon, who is set to play Monroe's mentally ill mother, Gladys.

The show was penned by The Kennedys' writer Stephen Kronish and will be directed by Laurie Collyer. Jonathan Koch, Steven Michaels, Keri Selig and Kronish will executive produce.

Garner is best known for her role in ABC's Pan Am.
