LOS ANGELES, Sept. 22 (UPI) -- Mariah Carey and Brett Ratner have reportedly been spending time together.

The 44-year-old singer and 45-year old director have been friends for years, and previously collaborated on Carey's music videos for "Heartbreaker" and "We Belong Together." Carey and husband Nick Cannon are in the midst of a divorce and have been living apart for months, and the singer has been leaning on Ratner for support.

"They speak frequently," a source confirmed to Page Six.

Carey shared photos of her Aspen vacation with Ratner in December, and attended the premiere of the director's film Hercules in July. Ratner is best known for directing the Rush Hour film series, and also helmed X-Men: the Last Stand and New York, I Love You.

Cannon recently addressed his divorce on Twitter, and defended Carey as an "amazing" mother and trustworthy person. The 33-year-old actor declared he will "always love" the star despite their split.
