LOS ANGELES, Sept. 19 (UPI) -- Laverne Cox will unveil her documentary on the lives of transgender youth, The T Word, on Oct. 17.

"For many of us, the 'T' in 'LGBT' means more than 'transgender' -- it also means 'truth,'" Cox explained in a statement. "The cast members in this documentary are fearlessly living their truths and in sharing their stories will send the message to other trans youth that it's okay to be who you are."

Cox's documentary will address several topics pertinent to the transgender community including dating, anti-trans violence, coming out and playing sports. After the show airs, the Orange is the New Black star will co-host a live "Trans Forum" where she'll answer fans' questions via social media.

The actress first introduced the documentary in April. Cox is the first transgender person to ever be nominated for an Emmy in an acting category for her portrayal of Sophia Burset on the Netflix series.
