Rosie O'Donnell speaks on why she left 'The View'

"I didn't ever want to be paid to fight with another woman. I'm a feminist, I'm proud to be one...so no matter what the price, I would never argue with a pregnant woman for money. So I had to go," said O'Donnell.

NEW YORK, Sept. 16 (UPI) -- Rosie O'Donnell revealed her reason for leaving The View as she returned to the show, saying she wouldn't fight with another woman for money.

O'Donnell left the show after she got into an on-air fight with co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck, and that was not something she wanted to engage in for pay and ratings.

"I was in the middle of a divorce," she said in a video posted on the ABC website.

"It was a little bit stressful in my personal life and it became a little bit stressful in my professional life as well. I think that the environment was one that didn't really gel with who I was. I didn't ever want to be paid to fight with another woman. I'm a feminist, I'm proud to be one...so no matter what the price, I would never argue with a pregnant woman for money. So I had to go."

O'Donnell said she is in a better place in her personal life with her marriage and hopes the rejuvenated show can be drama-free.
