Watch Homer Simpson complete the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

SPRINGFIELD, Ore., Aug. 27 (UPI) -- Homer Simpson is the first animated character to complete the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.

The Simpsons patriarch nominated Flanders, Lenny and Donald Trump before he performed the challenge with a small glass of ice water. Son Bart stepped in from a helicopter above and drenched his father with ice water, penguins, a polar bear, Santa Claus, elves, hockey players, a yeti and an ice cream truck.

The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge has raised over $80 million thus far for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis research. The Simpsons returns to Fox on September 28.
