WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif., Aug. 24 (UPI) -- Music producer Suge Knight was shot six times early Sunday morning at a West Hollywood night club, witnesses said.

Knight and several other celebrities were attending a pre-MTV Video Music Awards party at 1 Oak hosted by singer Chris Brown at the club when shots rang out.

A source told TMZ Knight was shot in the arm and stomach and other locations.

Knight walked out of the club upon his own power and was then put into an ambulance and transported to a hospital.

His family said he was in the intensive-care unit and was expected to recover.

A total of three people were injured in the shooting, including one person who was listed in critical condition.

Brown addressed the incident on Twitter.

"It's disappointing that we as a society can't have fun or enjoy ourselves without any altercations sometimes. Miss me with the [expletive,]" he wrote.

Knight is the founder and former CEO of Death Row Records. It isn't the first time he's been involved in an altercation.
